Fri 26 Jun 2026Year 5ZS @RF have been busy exploring free verse poetry inspired by the weather this week!
We experimented with figurative language, using personification, metaphors and similes to bring the weather to life through our writing.
To finish the week, we performed our poems to each other and to Reception, focusing on using our voices, expression and emotions to engage our audience. We were so impressed with the confidence, creativity and enthusiasm shown by everyone. Well done, Year 5!

Fri 26 Jun 2026On Monday 15th June Year3 LT @RF had a ballet workshop with London Children’s Ballet. The talented teachers taught them how to leap, French ballet words, posture, the first steps. “It was ten out of ten,” said Luna. “I was embarrassed at first, but then I overcame it and felt really good at bout myself,” remarked Eli.
In Computing to celebrate the international day of play we had great fun solving jigsaws and making pottery. In computing we have been learning to make powerpoints.
I have also included a couple of photos of the children playing piano. We have loved learning songs on the piano in the music room.

Fri 12 Jun 2026With the sunshine finally making an appearance, we were so excited to welcome our families into nursery to help brighten up our garden!
The children looked fantastic wearing green and had a fab time planting alongside their parents and carers. It was wonderful to see so many families working together to fill our outdoor space with beautiful new flowers and plants.
The children have already loved helping to look after our garden by watering the plants and we can’t wait to watch them grow each day.
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us and helped make our garden such a lovely space for everyone to enjoy!

Fri 12 Jun 2026This week, 4EB @RF have been putting their persuasive skills to the test! As part of our English learning, we have been writing and preparing persuasive speeches to convince Mr Ball that we deserve extra playtime.
The children have explored persuasive language, rhetorical questions, strong arguments and emotive vocabulary to make their speeches as convincing as possible. We have been impressed by their creativity, confidence and determination to persuade their audience.
Will their arguments be strong enough to win over Mr Ball? We can’t wait to find out!

Wed 10 Jun 2026Year 1LB @RF had a busy end of last half term. We went on a local walk as part of our topic in Geography. The weather was glorious! We discovered the features of a local high street and compared them with more rural areas. Frankie also gave in a fantastic piece of homework. He made a castle as part of our topic in History – well done Frankie!
This half term has started brilliantly with Year 1 taking part in a whole school mini golf event. We has great fun and the rain managed to hold off!
As we approach the end of the academic year, Year 1 will still be busy with their phonics learning. We are continuing our theme of Kings and Queens and will be learning to use bossy language in English, creating rules. In Maths, we are learning about time and money and we will also be revisiting our place value skills. In Art, we are learning about Henri Matisse.
We have another exciting, busy half term ahead, but we’re looking forward to it very much!

Tue 09 Jun 2026In Year 2 RE @RF, we are looking at the continent of Africa and the country of Zambia. We have talked about the human and physical features of the country and most recently we have looked at a village on the river Zambezi.
We looked at the different animals that lived in the village and around the village and how they helped the village or were a danger. How can they stop Hippos and Elephants eating their crops?
Year 2 have been writing stories and on the last day of the half term we invited our parents in to share our amazing work. The children loved making their stories into books to show their work to their parents, they all felt proud of their work and loved sharing it!

They showed great determination and maturity throughout, and as a special treat for all their effort, the children enjoyed a well-deserved trip to the park. Well done, Year 6! Fri 22 May 2026This week in 5ZS @RF, the children have had a fantastic afternoon creating their own soft toys using a range of stitching techniques and creative designs. The children showed great resilience, perseverance and creativity throughout the process, especially when learning new sewing skills.
They will continue and complete their soft toys tomorrow, ready to take home after half term. We are so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm!

Wed 20 May 2026In Year 1LG @RF have been really busy this week. We have been learning positional language in maths. We’ve even been doing the, ‘cha cha’ slide to help us with our left and right.
We’ve also started a new book called, ‘The Magic Bed’, and we’ve started some great creative writing. We’ve also become computer specialists, by learning how to change the font on our word documents. Finally, we joined a big online webinar where Joe Wicks taught us about the importance of exercise and we even did a workout watching Joe on the screen – it was great!
For the Year 1 DT topic, we have been learning about how to identify fruit from vegetables. We also practised our cutting skills, thought about what ingredients go well together and ended the topic with making our own smoothies and designing our own smoothie carton.

Thu 14 May 2026This half term, 4EB @RF have loved learning all about the fascinating Maya civilisation! We discovered where the Maya lived, what daily life was like, and how they built incredible pyramids and temples deep in the rainforest. We explored Maya gods and beliefs, learned about the importance of chocolate to the Maya people, and found out how they used calendars and astronomy to understand the world around them.
One of the trickiest parts of our learning was understanding the Maya number system Using dots, bars, and symbols was very different to the numbers we use today, but with perseverance, resilience, and lots of practice, we managed it! We are so proud of all the hard work and curiosity shown throughout this topic
