Welcome to 3EB@RF!

What a fantastic start we have had in 3EB! It has been wonderful to see the children settling into their new classroom, building relationships and embracing the exciting journey into Key Stage 2.

Moving from KS1 into KS2 is a big milestone. The children are becoming more independent learners and are beginning to take greater responsibility for their learning, organisation and behaviour. They are also experiencing new expectations, new routines and, of course, lots of exciting new learning!

This term, we have already begun exploring a wide range of subjects:

 History: We have travelled back in time to explore The Stone Age, learning how people lived, hunted, built homes and adapted to their environment.

English: We have been developing our writing skills and exploring picture books, thinking carefully about characters, settings, vocabulary and how illustrations can help tell a story.

Maths: We have been strengthening our understanding of place value and developing our mathematical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Science: We have started learning about Movement and Nutrition, investigating how our bodies move and why we need the right nutrients to keep us healthy.

Computing: We are developing our understanding of technology and how computers and digital systems work.

 Art: We have been developing our observational drawing skills, learning to look closely and capture details, shapes, textures and patterns.

Spanish: We have begun our Spanish journey, learning greetings, simple vocabulary and how to introduce ourselves.

 RE: We have been exploring important questions and learning how different people express and practise their beliefs.

The children have also been learning some very important KS2 skills — listening carefully, explaining their thinking, working collaboratively, asking questions, becoming more resilient when learning feels tricky and taking pride in their work.

There is still so much to discover, and we are incredibly excited to see 3EB grow in confidence, independence and curiosity throughout the year.
