In 4AC @RF, we have been continuing our learning about teeth in science and we carried out a fair test to see which toothbrush bristles are most effective at cleaning teeth. We then explored how carnivores, herbivores and omnivores have different types of teeth suited to their diet.

In English, we are writing character-driven stories about our own superhero characters. In maths, we have been using written methods to add and subtract 4-digit numbers. We have put lots of effort into improving our times tables recall this half term, with the children working hard to improve their studio speed on Times Tables Rock Stars. Keep up the good work!

    Year 3EB @RF Art – Exploring Drawing

In Art, we have been exploring how artists use drawing techniques to create different effects. We have experimented with different grades of pencil, explored how to use lines and marks to show texture, and practised using light and dark shading to add depth to our work.

We have developed our observational drawing skills, looked closely at details and experimented with different ways to bring our drawings to life. We have also been building our confidence in using a range of artistic techniques and making creative choices.

We have loved seeing our young artists experiment, take creative risks and discover just how much they can achieve with a pencil!

Year 3 have shown fantastic imagination and enthusiasm, creating artwork that reflects their growing skills and unique ideas. We can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them next!

Our Reception children @RF have been exploring our focus book, ‘Funny Faces‘ by Hanoch Piven. We’ve been using all sorts of different resources to create faces and discovering how everyday objects can be transformed into funny faces!

The children had a fantastic time designing and creating their own funny faces, and they were absolutely brilliant! We loved seeing their creativity and imagination shine through in their wonderful creations.

Year 6 Inspiring Art Trip: 6LB@RF Visits the Sea Life Centre & Waterloo Street Art

As part of our Art learning this term, class 6LB@RF enjoyed an exciting trip to central London to visit the Sea Life Centre!

This term, Year 6 pupils are diving into the world of street art. Later in the term, each pupil will be planning and creating their own artwork focused on an environmental issue they feel passionate about—such as tackling plastics in the ocean, highlighting the vital importance of clean water, or promoting recycling.

Exploring Street Art in the Wild
On the way, the children had the chance to admire real street art up close, right outside Waterloo Station! They even spotted a famous mural featuring Paddington Bear—and the children in 6LB were thrilled to pose for photos next to it.

The trip provided incredible creative inspiration for the children’s upcoming art projects. We cannot wait to see the impactful, environmentally-themed street art pieces 6LB will produce in class!

    Tue 06 Oct 2026

We’ve had another busy and exciting few weeks in Nursery! It has been wonderful to see the children becoming increasingly confident and independent, developing friendships and becoming familiar with our Nursery routines.

Stories & Language: We have loved sharing stories including Owl Babies and You Choose – Fairy Tales. The children have been joining in with stories, learning new vocabulary and using their imaginations through small-world play, role play, mark-making and creative activities.

Maths: We have been developing our early maths skills through lots of practical play. The children have been counting, sorting and comparing, as well as exploring mathematical language such as big, small, more and less. We encourage the children to notice maths everywhere in their play!

Our Feelings: We have also been exploring feelings and emotions through The Colour Monster. The children have enjoyed thinking about the different colours and the feelings they represent, and talking about what might help us when we experience big feelings.

Our days continue to be filled with singing, nursery rhymes, mark-making, creative and messy play, stories and lots of outdoor exploration. We are especially proud of how the children’s confidence, communication and independence are growing.

    Ask your child…
Can you remember what happened in Owl Babies?
Which Colour Monster matches how you are feeling today?
Can you find something big and something small at home?
Can you spot any numbers while you are out and about?

Thank you for your continued support — we are very proud of everything the children are achieving!

In DT, Year 2RE @RF are learning all about axles and wheels. We’re putting our new skills into practice by designing and making our very own fairground wheels! Although we haven’t got around to decorating them just yet, we’re already so impressed with how they are looking. The children have worked carefully to make sure their wheels turn smoothly and are looking forward to adding the finishing touches soon!
