  What a week we have had in Reception LT @RF!

   

  This year our Nativity was Baarmy Bethlehem. Nursery and RLT were amazing and really enjoyed performing on the stage. We loved getting dressed and couldn't stop smiling at each other. Christmas dinner was amazing and we had the best time. We are all sad to say goodbye to our elves, Sparkle and Benji, we have had  lots of fun with them.  We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from RLT.

  Year 6CE @RF have been learning about their local area Downham, in their Geography lessons. We found out that Downham is 100 years old, and decided to contribute to our community some art work. They have made a beautiful collage of flags and road signs, which will be displayed at Downham Leisure Centre as part of an exhibition, and possibly at Horniman Museum! Every detail was their decision, what an amazing piece of art they created!! Well done Year 6!

  Year 4EB @RF News: This Christmas, Rangefield came together to raise money for people experiencing homelessness. The pupils of 4EB created art from the heart, using their creativity to spread kindness and make a real difference.

  We are incredibly proud of the thought, care and compassion that went into each piece of artwork. The children loved knowing that their work could help others during a time of year when kindness matters most.

  A huge thank you to our parents and carers for supporting this wonderful cause and for purchasing the artwork. Your generosity helped turn the children’s creativity into meaningful support for those in need.

  Well done, Year 4 — a fantastic example of using art to help others and show the true spirit of Christmas

  This term, Year 6LD@RF have been learning all about light and how it helps us see the world around us. They investigated how light travels in straight lines and how shadows are formed when an object blocks the light.

  To put their learning into action, the children went outside and used the sun to create shadow puppets with their hands. They experimented with different hand shapes to make animals and characters, and they observed how the shadows changed as they moved closer to or farther from the sunlight.

  The playground quickly became a mini theatre, filled with creativity, teamwork, and excitement. The pupils were delighted to discover how science and imagination can come together in such a fun way!

  In Year 2RE @RF this half term, we have been exploring printing in our Art lessons and learning about the work of designer Orla Kiely. We looked closely at her bold, repeating patterns and the thoughtful colour palettes she uses to create her distinctive style. Inspired by her artwork, the children designed and produced their own printed patterns, experimenting with colour mixing to capture the calm, natural tones seen in her designs. The children showed great creativity and care throughout the process—take a look at our wonderful creations!
  
  In geography we have been learning about Antarctica. We joined a live assembly where we met explorer Robert Swan talking to us from his tent in Antarctica! He told us about his expeditions and they showed us outside their tent where we saw snow going on for miles!
  In DT we have been learning about the different food groups. We have been designing tasty and healthy meals. We also learnt how to cut, snip, spread and grate our ingredients.

  Children in 3CM @RF are enjoying a story of the Shortbread family who own a circus. Billy, Fern and Joe, the children of the owner, are not only performing in the circus ring but are getting involved when a granny mysteriously disappeared…

  Year 3CM children loved story A little bit brave by N. Kinnear. They had a go at describing the main characters and the setting using expanded noun phrases and acting out the opening scene.

  We learned to group our 3 times tables in various ways using deans, hundred squares and drawing arrays.

  And do have a look at our stitches which are coming along nicely – a marvellous opportunity to work on our patience and determination.

  This week, Year 1 LG @RF had a wonderful time in the music room!

  The children enjoyed exploring the space and discovering all the exciting instruments it holds. They also learned how to take care of the instruments and how to be attentive listeners during music time.

  The highlight of the week was trying out the recorders and keyboards for the very first time — a very exciting start to their musical journey!

   PJs for a Purpose! 
  On Wednesday, Year 5ZS @RF had a fantastic day learning in their pyjamas to raise money for CRISIS UK. We watched A Christmas Carol, enjoyed some tasty treats, and—most importantly—helped make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.
