Fri 29 Nov 2024In Reception LG@RF, we had an exciting day exploring ice and its magical properties! The children enjoyed playing with ice, watching it melt, and even experimenting with different tools to see how they could break the ice apart. YR4EB news @RF
Thu 28 Nov 2024This week, 4EB@RF had an exciting and educational visit to our local church as part of our Religious Education studies. Our focus was on learning about Christianity and exploring the church as a place of worship.
During our visit, we were warmly welcomed by Father Stuart, who shared fascinating insights about the church’s history, the meaning of its symbols, and how it serves as a special place for Christians to pray, worship, and celebrate important life events.
We learned about the key features of the church, such as the altar, pulpit, and stained-glass windows, which depict stories from the Bible. The vicar also explained how the church brings the community together for services, weddings, baptisms, and other ceremonies.
The children asked thoughtful questions and enjoyed seeing how a church looks in real life compared to what we’ve studied in the classroom. This visit helped us understand more about the beliefs and practices of Christianity and how places of worship are important for people of faith.
It was a wonderful opportunity to learn, reflect, and appreciate the diversity of religious traditions in our community. A big thank you to St Barnabas for hosting us and making the experience so memorable!

YR1CM news @RF
Thu 28 Nov 2024Year 1CM @RF have been learning in English how to write for different purposes. We decided to create ‘Teddy Bear’s Diary’ and have the experience so we would be even better equipped to write about it. The children were excited and it was amazing to see that everyone made such a great effort with photos and writing. Your children are the BEST!!!!!
In science we have been investigating how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching. We found out that some objects could be bent, squashed, twisted and stretched, such as: play dough and fabrics.
Then the children went on to find other items in the classroom that bent easily: such as books and paper; squashed easily: such as blue tac; twisted easily such as: ribbon and string; stretched easily such: as elastic bands.
The children used their scientific language when observing, investigating and collecting their findings and reporting on them.
