Fri 23 May 2025Year 4 EB@RF: Half Term Highlights!
As we come to the end of another busy and exciting half term, Y4EB@RF have so much to celebrate and be proud of!
In English, we’ve been diving into the world of poetry, using the weather as our inspiration. From stormy skies to sunshine days, the children have created vivid imagery and powerful verses, exploring how words can paint a picture and stir emotions. We even performed some of our poems aloud – our classroom definitely thundered with creativity!
Over in History, we’ve travelled back in time to learn about the fascinating Maya Civilization. From discovering their writing system and number patterns to understanding their beliefs and daily life, the children have been curious historians, asking thoughtful questions and making great connections with what we already know about ancient cultures.
In Art, we’ve been inspired by the bold and colourful work of Frida Kahlo. The children have created their self-portraits, experimenting with symbolism and learning how artists express identity and emotion. It’s been amazing to see how personal and powerful their artwork has become. See our work below.
In Science, we’ve been busy exploring states of Matter. Through hands-on investigations, we’ve learned how solids, liquids and gases behave, and what causes changes between them. From melting chocolate to watching water evaporate, our budding scientists have been full of curiosity and enthusiasm.
And of course, we’ve been rising to the challenge in Mathematics! Whether it’s tackling tricky word problems, mastering multiplication, or exploring new ways to reason and explain our thinking, Year 4 have shown resilience and a fantastic growth mindset. It’s been brilliant to see so many ‘lightbulb moments’ as confidence has grown.
I am incredibly proud of how hard everyone has worked and how much progress has been made. A well-deserved break is ahead—have a restful and fun half term!
Well done, Year 4!

Thu 15 May 2025🎉 Year 6 SATs Week – Breakfast Club Success! 🍳🥐
This week @RF, we are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils for showing such resilience, maturity, and determination as they tackled their SATs tests head-on. To help them start each day the right way, we’ve been running our special SATs Breakfast Club all week – and what a success it’s been!
Each morning, our amazing children arrived early to enjoy a calm, social start to the day with a variety of tasty breakfast options on offer. From toast and cereal to fruit and juice, they fuelled their bodies and minds in preparation for the day ahead.
Today, to celebrate the end of a challenging week, we treated them to a full English breakfast – and it went down a storm! There were smiles all around as sausages, eggs, beans, and hash browns were served up alongside well-earned praise and a sense of relief.
We are so proud of each and every one of our Year 6 children. They’ve worked so hard and truly deserve a restful weekend. A huge thank you as well to the staff who helped make the breakfasts possible and brought positive energy to every morning.
Well done, Year 6 – you’ve smashed it! 💪🌟

Wed 07 May 2025YR2RE @RF have been looking at healthy eating in DT. We have been designing meals that include the five main food groups and finding out why it is important to eat a balanced diet. When making fruit salad we made sure we washed and peeled the correct fruits and safely cut them into small pieces. Then the best bit… the taste test!
We had a great day celebrating VE day, we made spinning tops and played pick up sticks as part of our celebrations.

YR3ZS news @RF
Tue 06 May 2025Yester day in Year 3ZS @RF, we had a fantastic day filled with learning, celebration, and reflection as we marked VE Day. In the morning, we took part in an engaging workshop where we learnt about the impact of World War II, including the staggering fact that over 70 million people lost their lives during the conflict – it would take more than two years to read all of their names aloud. In the afternoon, we stepped back in time and enjoyed playing traditional games that children would have played in 1945, helping us to better understand and connect with the experiences of those who lived during that era.
