YR5RB news @RF
Tue 15 Sep 2026Year 5RB@RF have had an amazing start to the new academic year. All the children look smart and have come in to class ready to learn. We have started strong and jumped straight into our learning, challenging ourselves in maths with place value activities. In English, we’ve been generating characters and ideas for a narrative we will be writing next week. In French, we have learnt lots of vocabulary relating to komodo dragons. We have also had an exciting time in science and even did our first experiment of the year, finding out what happens when you mix substances together. Finally, we are reading the book called ‘Wonder’ . We’re getting to know characters and their feelings behind a boy who faces many challenges in life and is about to start school for the first time in year 5. Mrs Rodrigues and Ms Bodington a really proud of all the children in the class and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

YR6LB News @RF
Tue 15 Sep 2026This term, our 6LB have dived into A. M. Dassu’s compelling novel, Kicked Out. The children have been thoroughly engrossed in the story, engaging in rich discussions around its powerful themes of friendship, empathy, and migration. It has been inspiring to see them reflect on what it truly means to offer a welcoming hand and stand up for one another, both in the classroom and within our wider community.
- Rhylee: “I couldn’t put Kicked Out down! It really showed me what true friendship looks like when things get tough, and how important it is to stand by the people you care about.
- Armela: “Reading this book helped me understand what people go through when they have to leave their homes and start over. It made me realise how welcoming we all need to be to new people in our community.”
- Stephen: “Kicked Out is such an exciting story, but it also made me think a lot about fairness. My favorite part is seeing how the characters work together—it shows that friendship can overcome almost anything.”
