YR2RE news @RF
Mon 21 Oct 2024In YR2RE @RF have been enjoying art this half term. We have been exploring colour mixing and mixing colours linked to warm and cold colours. Once we mixed colours we came up with names for them like slimy green, poppy red, chocolate brown, lavender, plum and sandy yellow. Finally, we created our own painting with a range of effects inspired by the artist Ted Harrison.
Last week we went to the local park as part of our science and DT. We have been learning about microhabitats and had predicted which minibeast we thought we might find before we went. We enjoyed looking for minibeasts and describing the conditions of the microhabitats we found. Additionally, we collected items for the minibeast bug viewer we made in DT.

Wed 16 Oct 2024In Rec/YR1 LT@RF, we have been learning about living things and their habitats. We went to investigate some spider webs and made observations of them. The children couldn’t stop talking about them. “They are very beautiful”; “I have seen a million of them today”; “Why are they so shiny?”; “Where do the spiders hide?”; “I can see some prey”. The children loved our learning and were inspired to draw pictures and make some lovely art from our investigation.
