In YR4/5CR @RF as part of our science learning on forces, we have been investigating the effect of gravity on us all and everything around us. We learnt how to use newton meters accurately and compare the mass of different everyday objects. It was great working together! If an apple weighs 120g on Earth, would it weigh more or less? How much would it weigh?

In 1MR @ RF, we have been reading ‘The Lonely Beast’. We have created our own lonely beast and written a fact file about them. Here are some of our amazing pieces of writing.

We have also been learning about the countries of the United Kingdom and the capital cities for each one. We have been locating and labelling these countries and capitals cities on maps.

  • SNOW WAY ..

    Wed 10 Jan 2024

SNOW-WAY!!! Who would have thought it would snow on the first day back to school!
Nursery enjoyed getting our coats on and exploring the snow. Unfortunately it didn’t last for long but the smiles and laughs outside were infectious. “It’s so cold, it’s snowing”.
We also explored ice inside the classroom too, looking and how it melts and describing what it felt like. Brrrr it’s cold in here, there must be so much learning in the atmosphere! 🌨🥶

    Thu 14 Dec 2023

In YR4/5CR @RF as part of our ‘Living things and their habitats’ science learning, we were investigating how we can create a copy of a plant from a plant. We chose different parts of the parent plant to try and propagate. We had fun exploring, working together and creating our own ways of testing our theories. We also had visitors come in to see our learning and they were really impressed by our scientific thinking and use of scientific vocabulary.

  • Oakbridge Nursery news

    Tue 12 Dec 2023

Nursery have been saying goodbye to Autumn and hello to Winter. We’ve looked at the changes we can see and explored using our senses.

We’ve also welcomed Christmas into class. We’ve decorated our door like a gingerbread house, we’ve also been decorating our tree and sorting items into the correct bags just like little elves. Nursery have been using our fine motor skills to fill up Rudolph’s nose with red playdough balls, collecting magnetic coloured disks to create Christmas lights & Christmas/winter coloring.

It’s been such a busy time in Nursery but we’ve also squeezed in learning our Christmas nativity for this week and we can’t wait to show off our dance moves and songs that we’ve been practising. It’s so much fun at this time of the year and the children are enjoying all the festive fun!

Merry Christmas everyone, from the nursery team.

Year 3AD have been super busy in maths this week! We have been practising our 3 and 4 times tables! We’ve also been practising how to group and share into 3s and 4s. Maths has been very hands on with lots of manipulatives to help us – using our counters to create arrays to help us with our multiplications as well as numberlines and sharing circles. Next week we move onto our 8s which hopefully shouldn’t be too tricky for mathematicians!

In maths (1MR) this week we’ve been looking at odd and even numbers. We used numicon and pegs to see if we could share them into two groups evenly. We found that with odd numbers there was always 1 left over. We could put the pegs into even pairs when we had 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, but when we used 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 to make pairs we always had 1 left over.

We have been collecting data over the past four weeks using a rain gauge. We have been recording how much rain has been collected each week. Once we have the data, we are going to use it to make a bar chart.
