Ambulance Service Visit
Tue 07 Nov 2023Today at Rangefield, we were delighted to have Josh from London's Ambulance Service in to discuss the importance of the recovery position. Josh helped some of our pupils to practice and demonstrate the recovery position and allowed the school to observe this step by step. We also learnt about calling 999 in an emergency and explained what information the children would need to know in order to help their loved ones in a crisis.
It was extremely enlightening and inspiring to hear about Josh's career. We look forward to having him in again in the future.

RECLT News @RF
Fri 20 Oct 2023The children in Reception LT @RF have had a fantastic start to our school year. They have been busy trying out their independent learning skills.
The children enjoyed using their phonics skills to build and blend words with the sounds we know really well, writing names and labels.
In art we are learning to mix colours, the children used the primary colours and the story Mouse Paint to find out how to make secondary colours. As part of learning about ourselves we have read The Colours of Us. The children have been drawing portraits, then painting them by mixing skin tones with red, yellow, black and white paint.
In maths the children have explored making repeating patterns around the environment, we have also learnt about repeating patterns in music. -

In English, we have been learning to use adjectives and conjunctions and we’ve created the most amazing stories. On top of all this, we’ve been learning about animals and their habitats. We even went on a school trip to the local park where we found plenty of mini beasts.
We are looking forward to next term, when we’ll be finding out all about inventors and their wonderful creations. We hope you have a restful half term.

In Geography we have continued to add ourselves to the class map and it has been interesting to find out where everyone’s family comes from.
In Art we have used skin tones to create self-portraits. Can you guess who’s who?

YR1CM News @RF
Wed 11 Oct 2023In our science lesson, in 1CM @RF, we have been investigating different sounds and how to use our senses to compare different sounds. We listened to different sound clips to see whether we could identify what was making each sound. We then went into the playground and investigated different volumes. As a challenge we worked together to identify which direction sounds came from.
We played a game of secret whispers where the children whispered a word. They had to keep the whisper going around the circle. This was a game that we had to really concentrate and listen carefully. Please play these games at home to develop the fun learning happening in our class.

YR5EB News @RF
Mon 02 Oct 2023Last week, 5EB @RF learned all about persuasive writing - how to persuade someone to do or believe something through reasoning. We made the most of the sunshine and took our learning outside. In history we are learning all about the Victorian Era - the class was split in half and we debated the pros and cons of workhouses, using technical vocabulary. Here is an example.
"Some people believe that being at the workhouse provided them with food and shelter."
"However, others think that the workhouses were a dangerous and unhygienic."

Consultation results
Fri 29 Sep 2023Dear Parents/Carers
Thank you for responding to the consultation regarding timings of the school day. An overwhelming majority of you chose to extend the school hours by finishing on a Friday at 3.30pm. This will take effect from the week beginning Monday 6th November. This will support the progress of the children educationally and at the same time aligns with parental response.
Kind regards
Mrs Fenniche
