Fri 11 Jul 2025๐จ Year 5’s Immersive Art Adventure at Frameless!
This week, YR5CE @RF were lucky enough to enjoy an unforgettable trip to Frameless, an immersive art experience in the heart of the city. The visit was nothing short of magical!
Rather than looking at art from a distance, the children were surrounded by it—walking through swirling starry skies, stepping into dreamlike landscapes, and even dancing with colours and shapes projected on the walls, floors and ceilings. As one pupil said, “It felt like we were inside the painting!”
This unique trip helped bring art to life in a completely new way. The children reflected on how it felt to be part of the artwork, rather than just observers. It sparked lots of thoughtful conversations about creativity, imagination, and how we experience the world around us.
A huge thank you to the staff and parent volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly. It’s safe to say this was a trip Year 5 won’t soon forget!

YR2RE news @RF
Thu 03 Jul 2025Year 2RE @RF have been getting creative this week with a wonderful mix of music and art. In their music lessons, the children explored rhythm and melody, even writing their own rhythms and using three different notes to compose original tunes. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm as they performed their creations with pride and confidence!
But the creativity doesn’t stop there! Tomorrow, they’ll be diving into the vibrant world of Batik printing—an exciting hands-on art technique using wax and dye. We can’t wait to share more photos of their beautiful textile art soon.
It’s been a joy to see our young learners expressing themselves in so many ways. Well done, Year 2!

REC LG news @RF
Wed 02 Jul 2025This week in Reception LG @ RF, we’ve been having a blast painting our very own pirate ships! The children have been so creative, choosing bright colors and adding all sorts of details to make their ships truly unique. It’s been wonderful to see their imaginations set sail!
The children have also done some fantastic writing, using their own words to describe the pirate scenes from various books we have been covering.
With the weather being so hot, we’ve also been making the most of our water tray time. Splashing, sailing, and playing with the pirate ships in the cool water has been the perfect way to stay refreshed and have lots of fun.

YR6LD News @RF
Tue 01 Jul 2025Year 6LD @RF
Last Friday, Year 6 swapped their pencils for pins and headed to the bowling alley for an afternoon of strikes, spares, and the occasional sideways throw. Let’s just say, if bowling was an Olympic sport, our Year 6s would be enthusiastic participants. Whether the ball hit the target or mysteriously found its way into the gutter, the cheers (and laughs) were loud and proud. The teachers, meanwhile, wisely stayed on the sidelines—rumour has it they were too scared to lose to their students!
Back in the classroom, things have taken a more reflective turn. In English, the students have been working on speeches that capture their journeys through primary school. With a mix of humour, heartfelt memories, and just a touch of drama (this is Year 6, after all), they are crafting farewell messages that look back on the highs, the challenges, and the very important discovery that glue sticks should never be left uncapped.
These speeches will soon be shared at their leavers’ assembly—tissues at the ready! It’s a big milestone, and the Year 6 team couldn’t be prouder of how thoughtfully (and often hilariously) the students have expressed themselves.
From bowling balls to big emotions, it’s been a week to remember.

Thu 26 Jun 2025Year 4: Bring Stories to Life Through Playscripts
This term, our Year 4EB @RF pupils have been exploring the powerful and thought-provoking novel The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf. As part of their English learning, they have taken key moments from the book and transformed them into their very own playscripts.
Through this creative writing project, students not only deepened their understanding of the characters and themes in the story but also developed a wide range of important skills. These included:
- Writing dialogue and stage directions effectively
- Exploring character voice and point of view
- Collaborating with peers to edit and refine their scripts
- Building confidence in reading aloud and performing
The project was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to combine literacy with drama, empathy, and teamwork. Their enthusiasm and creativity have shone through, and we are incredibly proud of the thoughtful and imaginative work they’ve produced.
We look forward to sharing some of their performances soon!

Wed 25 Jun 2025Year 5/6 Visit the Helios Art Installation
This week, classes 5/6AD and 6LD @RF had the exciting opportunity to visit the Helios art installation in Downham – a spectacular and immersive exhibition created using an incredible 400,000 photographs of the sun. The dazzling visuals captured the beauty and power of our closest star, leaving everyone inspired and in awe.
Following the visit, the children channelled their creativity into a range of expressive projects. They wrote thought-provoking poetry, sketched vibrant images inspired by the swirling solar flares, and even composed music that captured the atmosphere and emotion of the experience.
It was a wonderful day that combined art, science, and imagination – sparking curiosity and creativity in equal measure. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this memorable experience possible!
