🚍✨ All Aboard the Naughty Bus! ✨🚍
This week at Oakbridge Nursery we’ve been diving into the wonderful story Naughty Bus — and what an adventure it’s been!

Our little learners have been busy:
🔢 Counting along with the bus… “The wheels on the bus go round and round… how many children are on the bus?”
📝 Making marks, drawing, and describing everything the Naughty Bus spotted on his journey
🌍 Creating a Naughty Bus small world, where our mischievous bus drove right through pasta!
🎨 Junk modelling to build our very own buses — full of imagination, colour and creativity!

The children have loved exploring, building, imagining and getting hands-on with their learning. So much fun and so much fantastic thinking! ❤️🚍

This Tuesday, Year 6CE @RF took part in a special workshop led by the NSPCC. The session focused on understanding personal safety, recognising safe and unsafe situations, and knowing what to do if they ever feel worried or unsure. The children took part in thoughtful discussions, asked sensible questions, and showed a mature attitude throughout.

The workshop leaders commented on how engaged and polite the class were, and how confidently they contributed to the activities. It was wonderful to see the children reflecting on how they can keep themselves safe as they grow more independent, as well as how they can support friends and others who may need help.

We are very proud of Year 6 for representing the school so positively and for taking such an active interest in their own wellbeing.

    Well done, Year 6!

Year 4EB @RF had an incredible day immersed in the world of Ancient Egypt during a special workshop delivered by The Drama Hut. The company came into school and provided a very engaging, high-energy session that truly brought this fascinating period of history to life.

Throughout the workshop, the children discovered lots of new facts about daily life, beliefs and traditions in Ancient Egypt. They took part in a range of exciting role-play activities, stepping confidently into the roles of pharaohs, priests, scribes and explorers. The Drama Hut team skilfully guided them through dramatic scenes, encouraging teamwork, imagination and confident speaking.

The session also included lively songs and movement activities, which the pupils absolutely loved. There was plenty of laughter, learning and enthusiasm as Year 4 immersed themselves in storytelling and performance.

It was a memorable experience that enriched their history learning and left the whole year group buzzing with excitement. A huge thank you to The Drama Hut for such a fun and inspiring workshop!

Just before half term, Year 2RE @RF enjoyed an exciting trip to the local park to explore microhabitats as part of our science topic, Humans Including Their Habitats. The children were thrilled to discover a variety of minibeasts, including spiders, snails, slugs, and millipedes, and learned how each one is specially suited to its environment. In art, we have been exploring the world of printing. The children experimented with different objects to create some wonderful simple designs, developing their creativity and learning about patterns and textures along the way.

Celebrating Diwali and the Story of Rama and Sita In RLT @RF

This week has been a wonderfully creative and exciting one in our classroom as we have been learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Lights. The children have explored the traditions, colours, and meanings behind this special celebration, discovering how families around the world mark Diwali with joy, togetherness, and light.

We began by learning the story of Rama and Sita, an important tale that teaches us about courage, kindness, and the victory of good over evil. The children listened carefully and took great interest in the different characters and events. They then had the opportunity to retell the story using their own puppets, which they designed and decorated themselves. There was so much enthusiasm as the children worked in groups to perform their puppet shows, bringing the story to life with creativity and teamwork.

As part of our Diwali celebrations, the children also made their own diya lamps using clay. They shaped, painted, and decorated them beautifully, showing fantastic attention to detail. Each lamp was unique and carefully crafted to represent the light and hope that Diwali celebrates. Once the lamps were finished, we displayed them around the classroom, and it looked truly magical!

Through these activities, the children have developed their understanding of different cultures and beliefs, as well as their artistic and storytelling skills. We have also discussed the values that Diwali teaches — friendship, kindness, and the importance of light overcoming darkness — lessons that we can all share in our classroom community.

It has been a wonderful week of learning, filled with creativity, laughter, and new discoveries. We are very proud of how engaged and enthusiastic all the children have been throughout our Diwali project.

Happy Diwali to everyone who is celebrating!

This half term, Year 4EB @RF have been exploring place value. We found subtraction a little tricky at first, but we didn’t give up! We persevered, and with practise, we got the hang of it.

To help us along the way, we played games, became maths detectives, and tried out a range of activities to make our learning fun and engaging. We’ve made great progress and are feeling much more confident now!

Year 1 LG @ RF Exploring Colour in Art!

This week in art, we’ve been learning all about mixing primary colours to create different tints and shades. The children experimented with adding white to make colours lighter and black to make them darker. It was exciting to see how just a little change could completely transform a colour!

We also spent time thinking about how the colours looked – were they darker or lighter? Everyone had a go at creating their own shades, and the results were fantastic.

Naiza said, “I thought our artwork was great!” – and we couldn’t agree more!

John Paul’s favourite creation was a deep dark green, and it was a hit with the class too.

Well done to all our young artists for such creative work – we can’t wait to see what you mix up next!
