Oakbridge Nursery news
Tue 11 Jun 2024Look at our hard working nursery children looking after our plants which are thriving in our garden due to the children making sure thay they have everything they need. Our plants are well watered (some are REALLY well watered), cared for by the children who planted them, and we’ve loved watching them grow. Have you realised how much our sunflowers have grown, they are are nearly as tall as US!
We’ve also been talking about how much we’ve all grown during our time in nursery. Our preschoolers are so ready for their next adventure into reception and we’ve loved watching them grow as much as the children have loved watching our plants grow!

Fri 07 Jun 2024Year 6ZS @RF were lucky enough to have a visit from Transport for London this week. We discussed how to travel safely, sensibly and respectfully as many of us will be travelling via bus or train to get to school next year! Thank you TfL!

Fri 07 Jun 2024In 1MR @RF this week, we completed a maths investigation. We had two types of ladybirds. There were red ladybirds with seven black spots and black ladybirds with four red spots.
We investigated which numbers we could make with adding 4s and 7s.

Fri 07 Jun 2024Year 2LB @RF have got off to a flying start this half term. We have been learning all about Japan in English and geography and have been comparing the UK with Japan.
We’ve also been having fun in maths, carrying out our own surveys and creating tally charts and pictograms.
We have been reading lots and the children have been brilliant at bringing in their books to be changed. We’ve got lots more to do this half term. We are also going to be focusing on making sure we are ready for Year Three and the fresh challenge of being in the KS2 and ‘the juniors’.

Thu 23 May 2024In 6LD @RF, we have worked so very hard during our SATS. We enjoyed a nice all day breakfast on Friday before going to the cinema to watch ‘Migration’. Well Done 6LD!
We are now writing a persuasive narrative on ‘The Spider and the Fly’ – looking forward to the half term after a few busy weeks. Next term, keep a look out for dates and up-coming events.

Fri 17 May 2024In Year 1CM @RF we have been learning about plants and where our food comes from.
We had a lot of children unaware of the way we can trace our food and products right back to the beginning. We have some ideas that our food is in our cupboards fridges freezers but we wanted to challenge ourselves to know ‘how do we know where our chicken nuggets come from’?
We have been looking at ways to develop our understanding of what we eat and how we know what is in our food that we put into our bodies.
We decided to go to our local store to find certain foods and discuss how they get to that store.

Thu 16 May 2024This week in in 4SM @RF, last week the children made cupcakes in maths. We used ratio to work out the correct amount of ingredients, we used rounding to work out the cost and we investigated how much we could charge for cakes to make a profit for a charity cake sale. The children enjoyed the real life maths scenario and of course eating the cakes once they were made.

Mon 13 May 2024In Reception LT@RF, we have been enjoying our learning about growing. We planted some grass seeds in a cup and looked after them over the week. Now we are observing them to see the changes as they grow. We wrote instructions and soon we will be giving our grass-heads a hair cut. We have been wondering if it will grow back again.
