REC LT news @RF
Tue 25 Mar 2025In R/1LT @RF, We had a fabulous time in finding out about animals. We were all very excited to meet and hold them. Some of us loved holding the snake and feeling how heavy it was.
- “I was scared to drop it.”
- “It was smooth and shiny.”
- “The spider was so soft and gentle but some of us did not feel brave to hold it.”
- “When the spider was on my hands I liked feeling it walk and it was very light.”
- “This owl is cute and small and I am wearing the glove.”
The skunk was very well behaved and sat quietly letting us stroke its soft long black and white fur. Mrs Minchin really enjoyed having the snake around her neck and wanted to take it home.

YR6LD News @RF
Fri 21 Mar 2025In Year 6LD @RF, the students have been diving into the world of poetry with great enthusiasm! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been exploring the unique features of poems, analyzing some of the best literary works, and uncovering the magic behind rhyme, rhythm, and structure. The children have been inspired by their own childhood experiences, and now they are starting to write their own poems! From exciting adventures to the quiet moments that make childhood so special, the students are pouring their hearts into their writing, and the results have been nothing short of impressive. Our teacher is incredibly proud of the creativity and thoughtfulness they’re putting into their work!
But that’s not all – Year 6LD is also having a blast in Maths! We’ve been learning all about measurement, and our focus has been on area, perimeter, and volume. Whether we’re calculating the area of our favorite shapes or figuring out how much space something takes up, the class is showing off their newfound skills and working together to solve real-world problems. It’s amazing to see how these math concepts are coming to life through fun hands-on activities.
We can’t wait to share more of our poetry and math adventures in the weeks to come. Stay tuned for some truly inspiring creations from the talented Year 6LD writers!

YR2RE news @RF
Wed 19 Mar 2025As part of science week, we have been creating our own experiments. What reactions can we make with items from our kitchen cupboards? How can we change the reaction to make it greater or less? We came up with lots of answers and had a lot of fun too!
In our Happymind lessons this half term we have been learning about our character strengths and we were able to develop our bravery when we had some very special visitors in!
We met a huge python, which lots of us were brave enough to hold.
Then we saw a hairy tarantula and were surprised that when some of us held it that the ends of the legs felt a bit sticky.
After we met a very sleepy skunk and all had a lovely stroke, but were very worried that we didn’t want to upset it, because apparently if a skunk sprays everything within a mile will smell for two weeks and you can’t wash the smell off!!
Finally, we saw a tiny owl. Lots of us wore a special glove, had a hold and stroke. The owl even flew onto someone’s back!!

YR4EB news @RF
Wed 12 Mar 2025This half term, Y4EB@RF have started their new science unit on electricity, and the classroom is already buzzing with curiosity. After an engaging introduction to the topic, children eagerly got hands-on by building simple series circuits using batteries, wires, and bulbs. Their faces lit up with excitement as they watched their bulbs glow brightly for the first time, proudly testing different connections and learning what makes a circuit complete.
Some groups even experimented with adding extra bulbs and buzzers, discovering how this affected their circuits. This hands-on approach has sparked a real sense of enthusiasm, and the children are excited to delve deeper into how electricity powers everyday devices and explore even more fascinating experiments in the weeks to come.

Oakbridge Nursery news
Wed 05 Mar 2025Growing and Waiting in Nursery!
This week, we have been learning all about growing with the story Jasper’s Beanstalk! Jasper was very impatient waiting for his bean to grow… and we learned that plants take time!
We planted our own beans and talked about the importance of patience while we wait for them to sprout. Then, we had a very exciting moment—we finally dug up some of the carrots we planted last year! After waiting and waiting and waiting, they were so big that we shared them with our school rabbits, Snowy and Cookie. They LOVED their homegrown treats!
Learning about growing, patience, and caring for nature—what a wonderful week! #NurseryLife #GrowingTogether #JaspersBeanstalk #PatiencePaysOff #HomegrownGoodness

YR5/6AD news @RF
Tue 04 Mar 2025YR5/6AD @RF put the finishing touches on their incredible clay sculptures, showcasing their creativity and hard work. From intricate designs to bold structures, every piece reflected the dedication and artistic vision of our talented students! However, as we evaluated our final pieces, we encountered an important lesson in sculpture-making – structural integrity! Some sculptures, though beautifully designed, sadly broke due to thin or fragile areas. While this was disappointing, it also gave us the chance to reflect on the importance of thickness, support, and balance in our work. Instead of seeing this as a setback, 5/6AD showed great resilience! We discussed what worked well, what we would do differently next time, and how learning from our mistakes makes us better artists.
