  • Consultation results

    Fri 29 Sep 2023 M Fenniche

    Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you for responding to the consultation regarding timings of the school day.  An overwhelming majority of you chose to extend the school hours by finishing on a Friday at 3.30pm.  This will take effect from the week beginning Monday 6th November. This will support the progress of the children educationally and at the same time aligns with parental response.

    Kind regards

    Mrs Fenniche

This week in English we have begun working on balanced arguments. The children had a list of topics such as “all homes should have a pet” and “homework should be abolished” and they needed to reason and explain arguments for and against.

Nursery are loving our mud kitchen. Ms Poulsom has given the kitchen a spruce up ready for the endless amount of play that will be enjoyed. We cannot wait to see what dishes are going to be cooked up next. Check out our messy pizzas that we’ve been making and sharing with our friends. “Oh wait I forgot the salad”. πŸ•πŸ₯—πŸ’œπŸŒΏπŸŒΈ

Year 1 CM at Rangefield have been learning all about the beach. We have studied the work of a famous artist called 'Turner'. The children have really enjoyed working with a range of resources and used different techniques to create ‘a seascape’.
We are excited about all the skills and knowledge we are learning in Year 1.

In English, 3ZS at Rangefield, have been learning about ‘The Tear Thief’. We have different opinions of whether her work is that of good or evil. We hope to debate her role and share these later in the week!

In maths we have been learning how to solve 1, 10 and 100 more and less than any given number. We have been working in different pairs to help and support each other.  As well as investigating to see which resources can help us with our adding and subtracting.

In art, we have been learning about the history of block printing. We discovered that this originated in China and over the period of decades it has travelled to Europe! We tried to create our own version of the amazing “Equilibrium” by Mat Miller – look it up, it’s very tricky!

Everyone in 2LB has the chance to get to gold. You can do it 2LB! We have been taking advantage of the lovely weather and have taken our learning outside into the playground. In the picture you can see Dexter and Z'Kyro working hard to make number bonds.

We have had a fantastic start in 1MR at Rangefield! In English we have been looking at the beach and writing sentences using our senses and adjectives to describe what we can see, hear and feel.

We’ve had so much fun in maths! We have been using objects to sort into groups. We discussed lots of ways we could sort, such as by colour, shape or size.

In history we’ve been using the learning to use the phrases ‘In the past’ and ‘Now’ to sort pictures of beaches. We noticed differences in the pictures such as clothing and items used on a beach.
