This term in science, Year 3AD @RF are learning all about plants! This week we have started an investigation into what plants need in order to grow and stay healthy. We set our investigation up by choosing four similiar plants; over the next week or two we will be investigating –

Do plants need water to grow?

Do plants need sunlight to grow?

In order to do this, each week we are going to water one plant but keep two in the sunlight. Then water both the other plants but keep one in darkness and the other in the sunlight. We’ve predicted that the plants that miss out on water and sunlight will not grow as well but we will have to wait to find out!

This week in in 4SM @RF, we have been learning about rivers in geography and decided to incorporate this into our creative writing. We have been writing poems about how rivers make us feel, what they look like and how they capture our imagination. The children loved the freedom they had to design and write their own poems and they have produced some delightful outcomes.

We have also been studying Angie Lewin and how she manipulate colour to create mood and tone in her work surrounding wildlife. The children used water colours to create a gradient effect for the background and then carefully used their brush control to paint on flowers and wildlife on top.

In 6LD @RF, we are learning about, “The Changing Role of Women”. We are exploring how women’s roles in society have evolved over time. From ancient civilizations to modern times, women have made significant strides in various fields, including politics, education, and the workforce. This journey highlights key moments such as suffrage movements, the fight for equal rights, and the emergence of influential female figures. Through this exploration, children learn about the challenges women faced and the progress made towards achieving gender equality. Here is some of the learning we have done this week.
