This half term, 4EB @RF have loved learning all about the fascinating Maya civilisation! We discovered where the Maya lived, what daily life was like, and how they built incredible pyramids and temples deep in the rainforest. We explored Maya gods and beliefs, learned about the importance of chocolate to the Maya people, and found out how they used calendars and astronomy to understand the world around them.  

One of the trickiest parts of our learning was understanding the Maya number system  Using dots, bars, and symbols was very different to the numbers we use today, but with perseverance, resilience, and lots of practice, we managed it! We are so proud of all the hard work and curiosity shown throughout this topic
