Year 6 @RF Visit Downham Library – Centenary Workshop

Year 6 enjoyed an exciting and creative trip to Downham Library, where we  went to explore the Downham Centenary Exhibition. The visit began with a treasure hunt and fact-finding mission, which encouraged the children to closely examine the exhibition and learn more about Downham’s history.

During the visit, we learnt how Downham  has changed over the past 100 years, discovering interesting facts about how the area was originally built to provide better housing for families. The children were fascinated to learn that many of the roads and houses were carefully planned and that some buildings and green spaces are still used by the community today.

The children were also very excited to see the work they had previously contributed on display as part of the exhibition, which made the visit especially meaningful for them.

Afterwards, the pupils took part in a hands-on workshop, working together to design and create a new piece of artwork. T

We also had the opportunity to view beautiful artworks created by our neighbouring schools, which inspired the children and highlighted the strong sense of community involved in the project.

It was a fantastic day of learning, teamwork and creativity, and Year 6 represented the school brilliantly throughout the visit
