Year 4: Bring Stories to Life Through Playscripts

This term, our Year 4EB @RF pupils have been exploring the powerful and thought-provoking novel The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf. As part of their English learning, they have taken key moments from the book and transformed them into their very own playscripts.

Through this creative writing project, students not only deepened their understanding of the characters and themes in the story but also developed a wide range of important skills. These included:

• Writing dialogue and stage directions effectively
• Exploring character voice and point of view
• Collaborating with peers to edit and refine their scripts
• Building confidence in reading aloud and performing

The project was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to combine literacy with drama, empathy, and teamwork. Their enthusiasm and creativity have shone through, and we are incredibly proud of the thoughtful and imaginative work they’ve produced.
