In Year 2RE @RF Art, we have just begun learning about weaving and exploring its history. In our first lesson, the children practised weaving using strips of coloured paper on a card template. They experimented with different colour combinations and tried starting their weaving at different points, discovering how this changed the patterns they created. The children showed great creativity and enthusiasm as they explored this new skill.

In Science, we investigated how different materials can change shape by squeezing, stretching, bending and twisting. We were surprised to discover that some materials, such as elastic bands, returned to their original shape after being changed, while others like Blu Tack stayed in their new shape after stretching, bending or twisting. This helped us learn more about the properties of different materials through hands-on investigation.
